In the Navy
Tom joined the Navy after graduating from high school in 1967. We met in 1969 and, despite
dating when he could get leave, and then being apart for months when he was assigned duty in Scotland on the ship, the USS
Simon Lake, discussing things through the mail (with very long pauses between a question and the answer!), we were (finally!)
married on June 12, 1971.

At a neighborhood Packer party
Tom got out of the Navy in December of 1971, and for the next five years we moved a total
of 6 times, before settling down in the house we have owned for nearly 30 years.
